I met Dr. Stemmler at a Health Fair at my work.  He was doing posture screenings and I decided to get checked.  I can’t exactly remember what he told me, but he essentially told me my back and spine were “out of whack.” 

 I took the opportunity to get my spine and nervous system thoroughly evaluated at Newman Chiropractic Center, and today I am glad that I did.  I’d been having low back pain, neck pain, and occasional numbness in my arms and hands. 

After the examination, the doctor said he was concerned about my spine and nervous system,  and  he thought we should take some x-rays.  I’d had x-rays taken before, but I don’t remember anyone telling me anything about them.  Dr. Stemmler explained and showed me exactly what was wrong and what he could do to help.  Essentially, where my spine should be straight there were curves, and where it should curve, it was straight, especially in my neck.  He said that because of the bad structure of my spine, my body was not functioning correctly and that was causing all my pain. 

He said that if we fixed the structure, we could correct the function!!  So far, so good.  After a few weeks of treatment and rehab, my neck and back pain have greatly decreased and my neck is starting to curve again, just take a look at these pre and post x-rays.  The funny hat I’m wearing is helping increase the curve.

I was treated by another chiropractor, but the results were unnoticeable.

There was no change. I found out about this office through my husband –there was a health fair at his workplace. After Dr. Dean assessed me, he showed me that my neck and spine weren’t lined up right.

Now, I no longer have daily headaches and I don’t feel like my neck wasn’t meant to hold up my head! I don’t complain so much, which feels more normal.

I had spent six weeks in bed with severe back pain. This was a repeat of an even worse experience of a few years prior (“my kingdom for a bedpan!”). I could hardly move.

My diet was awful. If the convenience store didn’t sell it ready-to-eat, I didn’t eat it. And the house? Yuck!

PCP gave me prescriptions for Motrin 800 and Flexeril, a muscle

relaxant, for two weeks. And that’s all she did! She then said, “Try overthe-counter”.

After finally deciding to start care with Dr. Dean, things are better. It

wasn’t a straight shot to relief, but now I would say my condition has

improved about

98.3%. Give or take a bit. And my depression is muchimproved.

I was raised to believe chiropractors were pretty much snake oil salesmen.

Now, I think my PCP may be!!!

Being unable to move, stand, or walk around easily greatly affected my daily routine. Luckily, this particular incident occurred during a vacation from work.

I have been treated by other chiropractors in the past who saw me one time, cracked me, and sent me on my way. I would be good for a few months, but it would happen again.

I found Dr. Dean’s office via the internet. After taking x-rays, he explained that my lower back needed work. I felt results almost immediately. I attended 32 visits – starting 3 times per week, then 2 times, then once a week.

Now, after treatment, the pain is gone. There has been great improvement.

This office has been very accommodating to my schedule. Dr. Dean takes the time necessary to address my concerns, and the receptionist, Cindi, is always welcoming and pleasant.

I’ve had fibromyalgia for about seven years. I’ve had the chronic fatigue that goes with it also. During that time, I’ve also had a lot of neck problems and back problems. I could barely get through the days, I was always so tired…. It also affected my social life.

I had been to many other doctors, but I got no help from any of them. A close friend found an article on the internet about Dr. Dean’s office, so I decided to come in for an office visit.

After explaining what was wrong with my neck and back, Dr. Dean also explained how my spine could affect my nervous system. Chiropractic care has really helped me. I can actually get through the day now, and not be so tired. I can now do work at home, and exercise, including swimming and walking.

Dr. Dean is a wonderful doctor. I would refer him to anyone.

PART II – THE CAR ACCIDENT

I returned for treatment after being involved in an automobile accident in late 2009. My neck really hurt, I had lower back pain, headaches, my knee was very bruised, and my wrist hurt too. I had a hard time sleeping, doing chores at home, exercising, and I had difficulty being able to work my job.

I again came to see Dr. Dean for treatment. He explained how the injuries for the accident were affecting my overall health, described how my range of motion had decreased, and outlined care to get me better.

Now, I feel so much better. All my pain from the car accident is gone. My range of motion is also improved. I want to continue seeing Dr. Dean to make sure I stay as healthy as possible. He is a very good doctor, and really cares about his patients.
